Digital World Acquisition Corp., the special-purpose acquisition
company that has said it plans to merge with former President
Donald Trump's social-media company, said a federal grand jury
sitting in the Southern District of New York has issued subpoenas
to each member of its board.
The blank-check company learned of the subpoenas on June 16, it
said.
The subpoenas request some of the same documents that were
previously requested by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
as part of a separate and previously disclosed investigation.
Additionally, the subpoenas seek certain documents related to
Digital World's S-1 filings, communications with or about multiple
individuals, and information regarding investment firm Rocket One
Capital.
Digital World also said Monday that Rocket One Chief Strategy
Officer Bruce Garelick resigned from the Digital World board
effective June 22.
Additionally, Digital World said it received a grand jury
subpoena with substantially similar requests to the other subpoenas
on June 24.
