athletes PLEASANT HILL, Calif., April 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Local law enforcement officers will trade in their handcuffs and
badges for serving aprons and gourmet burgers at Red Robin(R)
restaurants in Northern California for a Tip-A-Cop(R) fundraiser
from 12 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. During the Tip-A-Cop(R)
fundraiser, law enforcement will collect tips from restaurant
guests to benefit Special Olympics Northern California (SONC). This
is the first year Red Robin(R) restaurants in Northern California
are hosting the Tip-A-Cop(R) fundraiser. Red Robin, Special
Olympics Northern California and local law enforcement are hoping
to exceed its $60,000 goal with support from Northern California
residents. Tip-A-Cop(R) is part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch
Run(R) (LETR) campaign. LETR, which includes an international
series of relay runs and special events like Tip-A-Cop(R), is
presented by more than 85,000 law enforcement officers worldwide to
help raise money and public awareness for Special Olympics. LETR is

Special Olympics through which funds raised go directly to local
programs in states or countries where the funds are generated. "On
behalf of Special Olympics Northern California, we would like to
thank local law enforcement and Red Robin for their incredible
support," said Wendy Shipley, director of Law Enforcement Torch
Run. "Efforts like these make it possible for us to continue to
provide high-quality sports training programs and competitions to
all Special Olympics athletes." "Supporting local and national
causes like Special Olympics that promote the health, welfare and
education of children, families and citizens in our restaurant
communities is an important part of the Red Robin culture," said
Susan Lintonsmith, chief marketing officer for Red Robin Gourmet
Burgers. "We are honored to partner with local law enforcement and
Special Olympics Northern California through Tip-A-Cop(R) and
encourage the community to visit your local Red Robin to support
