CATC Introduces Major Upgrade to SAS and SATA Multi-Port
Analyzer/Exerciser Family Cascading for High Port-Count
Applications, Long-Term Recording, New Display Options and an
Enhanced Exerciser Demonstrate Market Leadership SAN FRANCISCO,
Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM -- Computer
Access Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:CATZ) (CATC), a
communications protocol expert company and leading provider of
advanced verification systems and connectivity products for digital
communications standards, today announced a major upgrade to its
Serial Attached SCSI and Serial ATA test and analysis platforms.
The SASTracer(TM)v2.0 and SATracer(TM)v4.0 allow customers to more
efficiently design and test SAS and SATA storage components with
enhancements targeted at interoperability, performance analysis and
system-level debugging issues. CATC's modular verification platform
benefits customers as new and innovative features from its
expanding portfolio of analysis systems are leveraged for SAS and
SATA developers. Cascading analyzers, long-term recording
(spool-to-disk), remote access, a new Frame Tracker(TM) display, an
improved calculator, and other enhancements complete a mature
feature set that is supreme in the SAS/SATA verification tools
market. Engineers testing large storage enclosures and RAID systems
will benefit from cascading multiple analyzers together to capture
"time-correlated" traffic up to 16 SAS or SATA links. The added
flexibility of "pooling" standalone analyzers as needed from
multiple locations allows users to debug complex system level
problems while leveraging their test equipment investment.
SASTracer and SATracer now offer Frame Tracker(TM), a condensed
view of traffic organized sequentially with each channel displayed
in a separate column. It shows transport-level events and can be
synchronized to CATC's Link Tracker(TM) and CATC Trace(TM)
displays. Together, these views make it easier for users to
visualize traffic flow in multi-lane environments and then drill
down to byte-level detail. A new recording option allows the
analyzers to run for extended periods, enabling the capture of
hard-to-find and intermittent protocol problems. This feature
provides long-term trace data collection, enabling terabytes of
data to be spooled to an external disk drive or storage array.
Users of CATC's Exerciser platform can now incorporate IF-THEN-ELSE
logic -- conditional branching -- within a test script. The ability
to intelligently respond to different state machines within the
system under test allows more comprehensive validation of SAS and
SATA device behavior. CATC extends the test environment beyond the
lab and allows for remote access and control of the analyzer over a
TCP/IP network. Engineers gain the flexibility to manage their
entire test and development environment from a centralized
location. Like cascading, multi-protocol analysis combines
standalone analyzers together to capture high-speed traffic across
different communication protocols. CATC's PCI Express, Fibre
Channel, SAS, and SATA analyzers can be configured to
cross-trigger, capture and display traffic from disparate protocols
-- all synchronized to a common clock. Timing calculations are now
supported between every level of the CATC Trace display including
Frame, Transport, SCSI/ATA Operation layers as well as markers.
Availability SASTracer v2.0 and SATracer v4.0 are scheduled for
release in late September of 2004. FCTracer v2.01 is also targeted
for late September and is required for fibre channel multi-protocol
analysis. CATC's PCI Express analyzer will be updated in Q4 2004
with multi-protocol analysis capability. Existing customers can
obtain the software upgrade under their maintenance agreement. For
