President Barack Obama intends to sign the fiscal 2010 defense
budget, approving about $680 billion in spending to purchase
supplies, pay troop salaries and maintain oversea bases, the White
House said Tuesday.
Obama will sign the 2010 National Defense Authorization Act on
Wednesday afternoon during a ceremony at the White House Rose
Garden. In addition to $550.2 billion for the Department of Defense
and the national security programs of the Department of Energy,
Congress also authorized $130 billion to support the wars in Iraq
and Afghanistan.
