General Market
Outlook
The market is consolidating now
after coming out of a strong downtrend. Coins are split between
positive and negative gains over the past 24 hours highlighting
that the market cap overall rose, but dropped back to just about
the same total it was yesterday - $200 billion. Trading volume has
remained at $13 billion or more in 24 hours. RChain (RHOC) and
Aurora (AOA) are the major stand outs of the top 100 coins by
market cap - up over 29% and 21% respectively in the past 24 hours.
Bitcoin (BTC) is right around $6,500 for basically no change
and a total market dominance of about 55.9%, and Ethereum (ETH) is
right at $210 for +2.5% change in the past 24 hours.

State In U.S. Developing
Blockchain Identity System
One city in the U.S. state of Ohio
has been researching and developing the viability of using
blockchain technology for identity verification, and in turn,
voting accessibility. The city, Dublin published a request for
proposal (RFP) document last month outlining the pilot program to
experiment with the technology. Because of the highly unknown
nature of the technology, the city notes that the budget will be
determined as the experiment moves forward. The first step involves
developing a database allowing local officials to create a secure,
private system for personal information and preferences. This will
also involve what the outline calls a "token of value." In the
first use case example, the system would enable registered users to
submit votes on the network with the added feature of visibility of
vote totals.
Ethereum Dapp Version Of
Google Maps
A new dapp called FOAM has just
launched with their full, live version. The application hopes to be
the most reliable, resilient world map available to the public. It
uses smart contract technology on the ethereum blockchain to
provide user incentives and more added features than something like
Google Maps. FOAM co-founder and CEO Ryan John King makes sure to
note the importance of the project - "people think location is a
solved problem." GPS is a centralized mapping services that is
owned by the U.S. government and operated by the Air Force. FOAM
spreads the cartography across its network of users. Locations can
be registered on the FOAM map using a cryptographic technique
called “proof of location.” Incentive comes by populating the map
with new locations through the use of the platform’s token, “FOAM,”
which also act as a quality-control mechanism. Users can challenge
and vote on the accuracy of newly registered locations.
BitGo Becomes Legal
Cryptocurrency Custodian
The active cryptocurrency security
startup called BitGo has been confirmed as a qualified custodian
for digital assets. The BitGo Trust had been approved only by the
U.S. state of South Dakota through their Division of Banking. This
allows their organization to provide institutional clients
regulated storage for digital assets. They offer both hot and cold
wallets, or a combination of both. The company hopes that with this
initial approval, more state regulators will follow suite to
approve their services.
