Bitcoin Global News (BGN)
September 14, 2018 -- ADVFN Crypto NewsWire -- IBM and HACERA
have been compiling all blockchain services available on many of
the most prevalent blockchain networks, including The Linux
Foundation’s Hyperledger Fabric, Hyperledger Sawtooth, R3 Corda,
EEA Quorum, Stellar Network, and others as well. They have taken
this data and input it to a platform on the Linux Foundation's
Hyperledger Fabric 1.0 called “Unbounded Registry.” This platform
itself is open-source, and allows blockchain projects to register
their own information.
Unbounded Registry provides some key
features to address common problems arising in the blockchain
technology space:
-
Dedicated naming for networks and
applications
-
Visibility of networks and
applications
-
Compilation of domain-specific
functions and services
-
Bootstrapping, launching and
building new digital communities
Yellow Pages to Angie’s
List?
The first Yellow Pages compilation
came out in the 1830’s as a way to organize the growing population
of businesses. Some argue that this indirectly made a profound
effect on commerce and is overlooked as key contribution to the
Industrial Revolution. Without this concept, a business was left
with only word of mouth or physical signage.
Many, including IBM, see blockchain
technology as the foundation for the next stage in internet and
communication. With the boom of the internet back in the 1990s,
there was a similar explosion in web domains as with
cryptocurrencies and dapps, creating similar confusion and
disorganization. ICANN became the coordinator of directories
including the Domain Name System (DNS). This was central to
launching the internet by create unique businesses listings with
names and addresses to be publicly addressable and digitally
interactable entities.
In reality, the system seems closer
to a global version of Angie’s List because of its peer-to-peer
foundation. Angie’s List is a website for home and personal
services, where customers can source work they need and providers
can list what they have to offer. This also gives customers the
opportunity to rate and write reviews of service providers to be
publicly visible on the website. Implementation of this feature
seems imminent on a platform like Unbounded Registry.
IBM believes that “you need a
vibrant community and ecosystem of like-minded innovators who share
the vision of helping to transform the way companies conduct
business in the global economy.”
The Unbounded Registry provides a
decentralized means to register, lookup, join and transact across
the involved blockchain networks. Most private networks are
unlisted. This platform allows brings public visibility as a
“yellow pages of blockchain.” The platform was built to
interoperate with all of the most widely used networks.
