Passenger-car registrations in the European Union continued
their ascent in June, although the pace of growth has been more
modest than in previous months, the European Automobile
Manufacturers Association, or ACEA, said Friday.
New car registrations--a reflection of sales--rose 10%
year-on-year to 1.05 million units in June, with growth of 25% from
January to June to 5.4 million units.
The development marks a deceleration from levels of growth seen
in May, when new car registrations in the bloc increased 53%.
Among the major car markets, Germany recorded a year-on-year
gain of 24.5% in June, with Spain up 17% and Italy up 13%, while
passenger car sales in France fell 15%.
