outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
HollyFrontier Corp. (HFC) on April 5 said an FCCU at its Navajo
refinery in Artesia, New Mexico cracking unit will be shut down for
10 to 15 days for unscheduled mechanical repairs. HollyFrontier
said the downtime will reduce crude throughput by approximately
800,000 barrels.
BP PLC (BP) on April 5 said about eight hours of routine
maintenance started at FCCU No. 1's electrostatic precipitator at
its Texas City, Texas, refinery at around 10:30 a.m. CDT.
Maintenance continues at the plant's FCCU No. 3 and an alkylation
unit, a person familiar with operations at the refinery said.
ExxonMobil Corp. (XOM) on April 4 confirmed the shutdown of
Crude Unit B, a coker unit and corresponding units for several
weeks of planned maintenance at it's refinery in Beaumont, Texas.
Minimal impact to production is expected and all contractual
commitments will be met, the company said.
Pasadena Refining Systems, Inc. (PRSI) on April 4 said an FCCU
at its Pasadena, Texas, oil refinery had returned to service after
a power failure the day before. The unit was restarted as quickly
as possible after shutting down at around 2 p.m. CDT on April
3.
ConocoPhillips (COP) on April 2 reported excess emissions that
resulted in flaring at its San Francisco-area oil refinery in
Rodeo, Calif. The notification to the California Emergency
Management Agency didn't specify whether the flaring was planned,
or perhaps associated with a restart of a process unit, or units,
following turnaround maintenance that got under way March 5.
A power interruption at CVR Energy's (CVI) Wynnewood, Okla.,
refinery caused a sulfur recovery unit to trip off line on April 2,
a filing to the NRC said. It isn't clear when power was restored or
if the unit had been restarted. CVR doesn't comment on day-to-day
operations.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) on April 2 said previously announced
planned turnaround maintenance on a key gasoline-making fluid
catalytic cracking unit at it's oil refinery in McKee, Texas, got
under way over the weekend. The work is expected to take about five
weeks to complete.
Planned flaring scheduled for April 3-6 at BP's (BP, BP.LN)
Carson, Calif., refinery is the result of scheduled maintenance, a
person familiar with the plant said on April 2.
