outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Sunoco Inc. (SUN) on Dec. 1 said it began the process of
shutting down its Marcus Hook, Pa., refinery, ahead of schedule. In
Sept. the company said the plant would be idled by July 2012 if a
buyer wasn't found.
Chevron Corp. (CVX) on Dec. 1 said its El Segundo, Calif.,
refinery was being returned to normal rates following an overnight
power outage.
Sunoco Inc. idled operations at an isomerization unit in the
Girard Point section of its Philadelphia refinery on Nov. 26 for an
unspecified reason, a filing to environmental regulators made
public on Dec. 2 said. No restart estimate was given.
Total Petrochemicals USA (TOT) shut Unit 890 at its Port Arthur,
Texas, refinery on Nov. 29. Restart of the affected equipment would
begin as quickly as possible. The No. 30 coker flare was listed as
a source of emissions in a filing to state environmental
regulators.
ConocoPhillips seeks a buyer for its Alliance refinery in Belle
Chase, La., according to a Nov. 29 Bloomberg News report.
Tesoro Corp. (TSO) shut a distillation unit on Nov. 28 at its
San Francisco-area refinery in Martinez, Calif.
Chevron's (CVX) El Segundo, Calif., reported a planned flaring
event to regulators on Nov. 28. The event is set to being early on
Nov. 29 and end early on Dec. 1. The flaring could be associated
with the restart of an FCCU shut since late Oct. for what was
expectd to be four weeks of maintenance.
PBF Energy said a power interruption within its Delaware City,
Delaware, refinery on Nov. 27 caused process unit upsets and a
boiler shutdown.
