The following table lists unplanned and planned production outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.

PBF Energy said a power interruption within its Delaware City, Delaware, refinery on Nov. 27 caused process unit upsets and a boiler shutdown.

An unspecified chemical release was reported on Nov. 26 at Marathon Petroleum's (MPC) Canton, Ohio, refinery occurred during the planned shutdown of a process unit for maintenance, the company said on Nov. 27.

Total Petrochemicals USA (TOT) shut a major steam-producing unit on Nov. 24 at its oil refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, due to equipment failure on Thursday, a filing to Texas state environmental regulators said. The shutdown caused a loss of steam to a compressor that resulted in additional emissions being routed to the plant's coker safety flare system.

BP PLC (BP) notified Calif. environmental regulators of its plan to flare emissions at its Carson, Calif., refinery between Nov. 27 and Dec 27. A person familiar with operations at the refinery said the flaring will be caused by planned maintenance at unspecified units. The filing said the event is not associated with equipment breakdown.

A coker unit at Syncrude's northern Alberta, Canada, upgrading plant shut on Nov. 22 due to an operational upset, the company said.

Valero's (VLO) Benicia, Calif., refinery reported an emissions release on Nov. 22 when a sulfur train malfunctioned. The event had no material impact to production, the company said.

Suncor Energy (SU) on Nov. 20 shut its Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, refinery after a leak was discovered. There is no restart estimate.

ConocoPhillips's (COP) completed turnaround maintenance at its Ponca City, Okla., refinery, the company said on Nov. 21. Details about the duration and specific units involved weren't specified in early October when ConocoPhillips confirmed the turnaround; traders doing business in the Midwest spot markets had said the plant's crude distillation unit was among the units slated for maintenance during the turnaround.

Irving Oil's turnaround maintenance that began in early Sept. at its Saint John, Canada, refinery in on track to end by the end of Nov., the company said on Nov. 21.

Western Refining Inc. (WNR) shut a diesel hyrdrotreater unit at its refinery in El Paso, Texas, on Nov. 20, according to a filing to Texas state environmental regulators. The unit will be brought back into service after work to replace the valve is completed, the filing added.
