ConocoPhillips' (COP) Bayway refinery in Linden, N.J., resumed production, a source said on Sep. 2; the plant began the process of restarting on Aug. 30 following a Saturday evening shutdown as a precaution ahead of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene.

Sunoco Inc.'s (SUN) No. 210 crude unit at Point Breeze in restart on Sep. 2 following the successful restart of crude unit No. 137 crude unit at Girard Point. The 137 unit was shut due to flooding from Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene, and the 210 unit was shut following a fire on Aug. 24. FCCU at Girard Point resumes normal operations on Sep. 2. The unit ran at reduced rates until CDU No. 137 returned to normal; it was shut unplanned on Aug. 30 No. 859 hydrotreating unit which was shut by the Aug. 24 fire has also returned to service, a source said on Sep. 2.

ConocoPhillips (COP) on Aug. 30 notified U.S. regulators of flaring due to a possible sulfur dioxide release during the restart of its Bayway refinery in Linden, N.J. The plant was shut on Aug. 28 as a precaution ahead of Hurricane Irene.

ConocoPhillips' Trainer, Pa., refinery was back at planned rates on Aug. 30, sources said. The plant had been operating at 80% of capacity since Saturday as a precaution ahead of Hurricane Irene.

Sunoco Inc's. (SUN) Philadelphia refinery continued to operate at reduced rates on Aug. 30 because of storm-related equipment failure, and breakdowns that occurred ahead of the storm. An early morning fire on Aug. 24 served to shut down a crude unit and hydrotreater, a filing to state regulators said.

Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) notified authorities on Aug. 23 that a fluid catalytic cracker at it's 210,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Catlettsburg, Ky, was still down a week after a relatively small fire shut down the unit. It wasn't known when the unit would be restarted.
