outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Tesoro's 98,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Wilmington, Calif, is
back on line after experiencing a temporary power outage on Aug 21,
which resulted in some flaring. No impact to supply was
evident.
A 114,000 barrel-a-day fluid catalytic cracker at ExxonMobil's
561,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Baytown, Tx, is back on line
following 60 hours of down time in the unit due to a breakdown on
Aug. 17, according to trading sources.
A fluid catalytic cracker at BP's 407,000 barrel-a-day refinery
in Texas City, Tx, tripped off line on Saturday, Aug. 20, causing a
flaring event from 10:10 am to 6:04 pm, according to the Texas
Commission on Environmental Quality. It wasn't know how much
gasoline production was lost during the event.
An emissions event occurred at the Valero refinery in McKee,
Texas over the weekend with a compressor going down and causing a
flaring event from midnight Friday, Aug. 19 until 8:00 am Saturday
in complex number three. No serious outages wre reorted, according
to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
ExxonMobil Corp. (XOM) told Texas environmental regulators that
FCCU No. 3 tripped Aug. 17 at its 560,600-barrel-a-day refinery in
Baytown, Texas. A spokeswoman also said the catalytic lighting unit
at the nation's largest refinery was impacted. The company said
there was a "minimal impact on production and all customer needs
were met" as the FCCU was put on hot standby. Exxon told regulators
that emissions could continue until Aug. 20.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said Aug. 18 it will begin restarting
one of the crude distillation units, its fluid catalytic cracker
and other key units at its Memphis refinery. The
195,000-barrel-a-day refinery has been shut down since an Aug. 5
fire. Valero said it expects to restart the second distillation
unit by September.
ConocoPhillips (COP) reported an upset of the alkylation united
at its 100,000-barrel-a-day refinery in Ferndale, Wash., Aug. 15.
Impact to production is unknown.
Tesoro Corp. (TSO) restarted units at its 94,000 barrel-a-day
refinery in Hawaii Wednesday is bringing them to planned operating
rates, the company said. Tesoro had shut down unspecified process
units at the refinery Monday after a piping component failure.
PBF Energy Company LLC said it reduced the production rate of a
key gasoline-making unit Aug. 15 at its 170,000-barrel-a-day Toledo
refinery for up to four days while it performs maintenance work,
according to a notice filed with Ohio regulators.
ConocoPhillips said on Aug. 11 it was planning to repair the
transistors at its 247,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Sweeny, Texas,
which could effect the refinery's FCCU, according to a government
filing.
Irving Oil said its 300,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Saint John,
New Brunswick, Canada, had a "minor upset" on Aug. 11 that did not
effect supply.
ConocoPhillips said on Aug. 9 its 195,000 barrel-a-day refinery
in Ponca City, Okla., was restarting after a storm-related power
outage on Monday.
Western Refining (WNR) said on Aug. 9 that its 125,000
barrel-a-day refinery in El Paso, Texas, was at normal processing
rates after a power outage on Sunday forced a shutdown of the
FCCU.
Motiva Enterprises LLC said on Aug. 6 that the hydrocracker at
its 233,500 barrel-a-day refinery in Norco, La., was shut down
because of unspecified reasons.
Alon USA Energy Inc. (ALJ) said Aug. 4 a compressor trip forced
the shutdown of the FCCU at its 67,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Big
Spring, Texas.
BP Plc (BP) shut one of three crude units at its 405,000
barrel-a-day refinery in Whiting, Ind., for unplanned repairs, a
person familiar with operations said Aug. 3.
Alon USA Energy Inc. (ALJ) recently began turnaround maintenance
at a key gasoline-making unit at its oil refinery in Big Spring,
Texas, a report to Texas state environmental regulators made public
on July 25 said. The date of the unit's return to normal service
wasn't provided.
