sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
BP (BP) late Wednesday notified California state regulators of
its intention to flare excess emissions between October 22 and
November 8 at its Carson, California, refinery. The flaring is not
associated with equipment breakdown and follows seven days of
planned flaring between October. 12 and 19 and three days of
planned flaring from September 27-30.
Trade sources said Wednesday that Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) shut
a crude unit at its Robinson, Illinois, refinery earlier this week
for maintenance. The unit could be restarted as early as Friday or
early next week. The company wouldn't comment.
Tesoro Corp. (TSO) partially restarted its oil refinery in
Anacortes, Washington, Tuesday, according to a local news report.
The refinery shutdown on April 2 following a fatal blast and
fire.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) Tuesday said turnaround maintenance at
its Aruba refinery is on track to end in late December or early in
January. The decision on whether to restart the refinery will be
made then.
Valero Energy Corp. Tuesday reported a brief flaring owing to a
compressor failure at its Wilmington, Calif. plant. The event had
no impact on production, the Co. said on Wednesday.
Turnaround continues at Motiva's Port Arthur, Texas, refinery
FCCU. The unit was taken out of service unplanned in late August,
when to Co. decided to advance scheduled turnaround maintenance.
The unit is expected to return to service in early November, a
person familiar with operations at the plant said Tuesday.
Valero Energy shut a Butamer Unit briefly Tuesday at its Corpus
Christi, Texas, plant; no impact to production was expected, the
Co. said on Wednesday.
Husky Energy Inc.'s (HUSKF, HSE.T) oil refinery in Lima, Ohio,
began 40 days of planned turnaround maintenance Friday at the
plant's catalytic cracking unit and coker. All other units will
remain up and running. The refinery will continue to produce
throughout the turnaround, to company said.
Motiva Enterprises LLC (RDSA) on Monday reported the shutdown of
a tail-gas treatment unit, or TGTU, at its Port Arthur, Texas, oil
refinery to Texas state environmental regulators. A TGTU is used in
the sulfur recovery process. The work was expected to last between
four to six hours, starting at around 6 a.m. Monday.
A key gasoline-making unit at ConocoPhillips' (COP) Bayway
refinery in Linden, N.J., is operating at unspecified reduced rates
Friday following the unplanned shutdown Thursday of a compressor at
the unit; the unit is expected to return to normal operating rates
by Saturday. Meanwhile, work to install a new vacuum furnace at the
238,000-barrels-a-day refinery continues. Crude oil processing was
halted sometime around Sept. 23 to facilitate the installation,
which was expected to take about 45 days.
Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) said Friday that turnaround maintenance
began this week at its oil refinery in Detroit. The company didn't
provide details about the scope of the turnaround or estimate a
restart date.
