ConocoPhillips (COP) Saturday said an equipment malfunction at
its Rodeo, California, refinery resulted in a release of sulfur
dioxide.
ConocoPhillips' Los Angeles-area refinery in Wilmington, Calif.,
reported flaring on Saturday; the reason for the flaring was
unknown. The plant previously reported 20 days of planned flaring
starting on September 10.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) reported a brief period of flaring at
its Port Arthur, Texas, oil refinery Saturday owing to an
unexpected coker wet gas compressor snag.
Equipment failure and fire Saturday at Valero Energy Corp.'s
Benicia, Calif., oil refinery resulted in a release of pitch, a
substance formed from petroleum, into the atmosphere. It is not
clear what unit or units were involved in the incident or whether
it had any impact on production.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) said Friday that crude oil throughput
was back to normal rates following the restart last week of
Enbridge Inc.'s (ENB, ENB.T) crude-delivery line 6A.
A small, brief fire Thursday shut Isomax Unit No. 2 at Chevron's
(CVX) Pascagoula, Mississippi, oil refinery but did not affect
operations at any other process units at the plant, company
spokesman Steve Renfro said Friday. There was no restart timing
available; the incident is under investigation. said.
BP PLC (BP, BP.LN) Friday began the process of restarting
Ultraformer No. 4 at its Texas City, Texas, oil refinery following
an outage to perform maintenance and repair work. It is unclear
when the unit, which produces blending components used to increase
octane levels in gasoline, was taken out of service.
