Innovation and safety drive Imperial Oil's citizenship results

CALGARY, July 20 /CNW/ -- Review Imperial's environmental
commitments and performance in newly issued Corporate Citizenship
Report In 2009, Imperial: - Achieved best-ever employee and
contractor safety results - Cut total greenhouse gas emissions by
14 per cent from 2005 levels - Contributed $2.5 million to support
a national Aboriginal women's leadership program - Invested $92
million in Aboriginal businesses through procurement contracts

Corporate Citizenship Report

The report highlights how Imperial is responding to significant
growth in energy demand with responsible resource development. "Our

responsibly," said Bruce March, Imperial's chairman, president and
chief executive officer. "We believe we can accomplish this goal by
integrating environmental protection, economic growth and social
advancement into all aspects of our business planning. While we are

at what we do." Current events have focused significant global
attention on oil and gas development, and Imperial's 2009 report
includes a discussion about the company's approach to environmental
