World's Best Canadian Blended Whisky among four
prestigious accolades
TORONTO, April 2, 2019 /CNW/ - Corby Spirit and Wine
Limited has once again proven that its Canadian Whiskies are some
of the world's best, winning four notable awards for J.P. Wiser's,
Lot No. 40, and Pike Creek at the World Whiskies Awards, which
took place in London, England on March
28th, 2019. These top industry nods closely follow the
national recognition that Corby's whiskies earned in
January at the Canadian Whisky Awards.
The World Whiskies Awards are the culmination
of 3 rounds of blind judging conducted by an international panel of
experts. Collectively, Corby Spirit and Wine's whiskies
took home the following awards:
- World's Best Canadian Blended – J.P. Wiser's 35 Year
Old
One of the oldest Canadian Whiskies ever produced. It represents
a traditional blended rye whisky that has experienced the harsh
Canadian winters and warm summers over 35 years in Hiram Walker's
ageing warehouse.
- World's Best Corn Whisky – Best Canadian Corn – Pike Creek
21 Years Finished in European Oak Casks
21 year
old select oak aged Canadian whisky finished in French and
Hungarian oak casks for an exceptional finish. This whisky brings
together Pike Creek's signature smooth style with faint hints of
dried fruits, honey, and nutmeg drawn from European oak casks.
- World's Best Rye Whisky – Best Canadian Rye – Lot 40 Cask
Strength 11 Year Old
11 year old 100% rye whisky right
from the cask, with spicy rye notes
- World's Best Flavoured Whisky – Best Canadian Flavoured –
J.P. Wiser's Vanilla
Offering notes of toffee, vanilla,
nutmeg and allspice aromas/flavours with a bit of heat on a long
and lingering spicy finish.
"We are incredibly proud that our Canadian whiskies have been
ranked among the best in the world." says Vanessa Clarke, Senior Brand Manager,
Corby Spirit and Wine Limited.
"These awards are a true reflection of the passion we hold to
innovate and push the boundaries on what's possible, resulting in
quality whisky, and we are honoured to share it with the
world."
Corby's Canadian whisky brands are produced at the Hiram Walker
& Sons distillery in Windsor, Ontario - which was
recognized for the second year in a row as Distillery of
the Year by the Canadian Whisky
Awards. Corby's award-winning whiskies are entirely
Canadian-made from local grains.
"The success of our family of Canadian whiskies is both a
testament to our passion and dedication to developing quality
whisky, and to our history founded on the tradition of
grain-to-glass craftsmanship. There's no better feeling in the
world than to have our work recognized with such high regard." says
Dr. Don Livermore, Master Blender.
The World Whiskies Awards are the global awards selecting the
very best in all the international recognized styles, award and
