The Rite Aid Foundation announced today a $150,000 donation that
will be distributed across several California relief organizations
assisting the families, evacuees and firefighters impacted by the
deadly Camp, Woolsey and Hill wildfires. The Camp Fire has now
become the deadliest wildfire in California’s history.
To help relief efforts, the Rite Aid Foundation has made
donations to four organizations:
•
American Red Cross Gold Country Region
$40,000
•
American Red Cross Los Angeles Region $40,000
•
North Valley Community Foundation $35,000
•
Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation $35,000
“These devastating fires have left absolute destruction and
heartbreak across California. Our thoughts and prayers are with
everyone who has been affected as well as the brave firefighters
who have been tirelessly battling these infernos,” said Kermit
Crawford, Rite Aid president and chief operating officer and
president of The Rite Aid Foundation. “The Rite Aid Foundation
hopes today’s donations provide hope, relief and support as
families and residents begin to recover and rebuild their
lives.”
Since the wildfires ignited last week, the American Red Cross
has been on the ground providing shelter, food and comfort to the
thousands of residents forced to flee their homes with little
notice.
In response to the overwhelming devastation and loss, the North
Valley Community Foundation has established the Camp Fire
Evacuation Relief Fund to support the needs of the evacuation
centers that opened their doors to support people who lost their
homes and are fleeing the fire.
In addition to providing meals for emergency workers and
evacuees, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation has been
providing hydration backpacks for the firefighters working
tirelessly to contain the fires.
Since its inception in 2001, The Rite Aid Foundation has awarded
more than $36 million to non-profit organizations. Additionally,
Rite Aid, through the efforts of its customers, supplier partners
and associates, has also raised more than $87 million for
Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the country since
1994.
