June 08, 2018 -- ADVFN Crypto NewsWire -- SAP is a German-based global software
corporation that makes enterprise software to manage business
operations and customer relations. The company is headquartered in
Walldorf, Baden-Württemberg, Germany with regional offices in 180
countries. They will be bringing in a huge pool of customers to
introduce to blockchain, as they currently service over 335,000
customers in over 180 countries.
Blockchain-as-a-Service
Their new cloud-based solution aims
to provide enterprises with a framework to build business
applications on top of blockchain systems such as Hyperledger
Fabric, the blockchain platform launched by the Linux Foundation.
SAP is also a contributor to that project.
The company said that the work is
being formally rolled out after it has worked with 65 companies
within its Blockchain Co-Innovation Initiative that trialed
blockchain applications in various industries such as supply chain,
manufacturing, transportation, food and pharmaceuticals.
Co-Innovation &
Consortium
Based of an enterprise blockchain
survey that the company launched, they have found the best
course of action to be bringing their customers together - “SAP is
bringing like minded industry leaders and the companies they do
business with together, to facilitate requirement definitions for
some of the biggest business challenges – turning blockchain to
reality and challenges to opportunity, for all.”
Farm to Consumer
Initiative
The company is looking to apply the
tech to agricultural supply chains as well, by way of its Farm to
Consumer initiative. Companies such as Johnsonville, Naturipe Farms
and Maple Leaf are working as additional collaborators on the
project.
"The Farm to Consumer project
perfectly showcases a common pattern we see in many of our
blockchain projects," Zube wrote in a blog post detailing the
initiative. "Cross-company collaboration along complex value chains
for which the technology can remove abundant process steps and
friction, and establish automated trust."
SAP has also teamed up with Swiss
supply chain startup modum.io (MOD) to further its supply chain ventures. SAP
plans to provide further details on the companies' joint work on
pilot projects later this month.
