BETHESDA, Md., Nov. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Healthy
Directions, a direct-to-consumer nutritional supplement and
personal care company, health content publisher and wholly-owned
subsidiary of Helen of Troy
Limited (NASDAQ, NM: HELE), today announced the launch of a new
health content site called www.bloodsugarnetwork.info that is
focused on educational content about blood sugar and diabetes from
a wide variety of health experts. In conjunction with the site
launch, they are also initiating a national 10-day, sugar-free
challenge beginning in November to support National Diabetes
Month.
Healthy Directions has its roots in educational publishing, but
this is the first time the company has launched a digital,
content-only vehicle that features articles, advice, scientific
papers, and insights from a wide variety of health experts and
doctors, including Dr. Julian
Whitaker, Dr. Stephen
Sinatra, Dr. David Williams,
and Dr. Spencer Nadolsky, as well as
a scientist, a yogi, and a registered dietician.
"With more than 100 million Americans affected by elevated blood
sugar, education is so important in the fight against this growing
national problem. And we need to take a holistic approach," said
Ben Teicher, President of Healthy
Directions. "We will continue to build our stable of experts to
meet our goal of becoming the premier source for unbiased
information about natural ways to manage blood sugar and other key
health markers."
The site includes articles, infographics, an interactive quiz to
test people's knowledge of diabetes and blood sugar, educational
videos, and downloadable white papers. In parallel, Healthy
Directions is also launching a 10-day sugar-free challenge with its
employees and customers to help reduce sugar consumption as a first
step to managing blood sugar. The campaign, "Don't Sugarcoat It,"
will launch across multiple vehicles and be featured prominently in
social media.
Sugar consumption in America has reached dangerous levels and is
having an adverse effect on our national health. Americans, on
average, currently consume more than 150 pounds of sugar a year
each, a level considered dangerous and partly responsible for
growing national obesity and diabetes epidemics.
