US initial jobless claims down 2,000 to 210,000

The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States tumbled by 2,000 to 210,000 in the week ending March 23, the Department of Labor revealed in its report published on Thursday. The figure came in lower than analysts predicted.

The four-week moving average fell by 750 in comparison to the week before, coming in at 211,000. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending March 16, stood at 1.2%, unchanged compared to the week before, with the number for insured unemployment at 1,819,000, up by 24,000 from the previous week.

The 4-week moving average was 1,802,750, an increase of 3,500 from the previous week’s revised average.
