Sector Screen
Sector screen is a powerful new tool from ADVFN. It displays a graphical representation of companies balance sheets. The companies are grouped and displayed by sector, so you can easily and quickly compare companies performance within that sector.
The tool is easy to learn and quick to use.
The balance sheet is displayed as two columns.
The first column represents Liabilities & equity.
Short term creditors
Long term creditors
Equity (Shareholder Equity is the amount of the business owned by shareholders)
The second column represents Assets
Intangibles
(Intangibles are assets that cannot be touched like patents or strong brand names, good will, intellectual property etc).
Fixed (noncurrent) assets
(A long-term asset that is not expected to be converted to cash in the current or upcoming fiscal year).
Current assets
(Assets that could be converted to cash in less than one year)
Cash & securities
Cash (Cash in hand). Securities (An investment instrument issued by a corporation, government, or other organisation which offers evidence of debt or equity).
You can see from fig 1 that the company can easily pay off it's short and long term creditors, with it's cash and current assets. You can also assess how much of a hold the shareholders have over the business.
Fig 2
Shows how companies are displayed for comparison within a sector matrix.
Pull down boxes allow you to select the sector you wish to observe along with the ability to sort the companies by:
Creditors (short)
Creditors (long)
Creditors (long+other)
Total Equity
Intangibles
Fixed Assets
Current Assets
Cash & securities
