In order to help hotels further reduce their environmental
footprint, Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS) today introduced its
first eco-friendly garment options for bellmen, doormen and other
front door professionals in hotels. The new apparel, made of
recycled polyester, wool and Lycra®, further enhances Cintas’
already extensive EcoGeneration™ collection and enables hotels to
go “green” without compromising fashion or comfort.
“Staff members who greet guests when they enter a property
really set the tone for their overall perception of the brand,”
said Todd McKeown, Vice President of Hospitality at Cintas. “With
our new sustainable apparel for bellmen and doormen, hotels can
leave an impression that’s unified and professional—as well as
environmentally-responsible.”
The new, sustainable garments for bellmen and doormen include
the Tailored Signature Jacket, the Cobra Jacket and the Carnaby
Shirt-Collar Jacket. Like Cintas’ Momentum™ Suiting Collection
designed for front desk staff, the garments are made using an
innovative, certified process that converts recycled plastic
bottles into fabric. The Tailored Signature Jacket and Cobra Jacket
are made using a 54/42/4 recycled polyester/wool/Lycra blend while
the Carnaby Shirt-Collar Jacket is a 60/40 combination of recycled
polyester and polyester.
By using recycled fibers instead of creating new fibers, Cintas
significantly reduces the environmental impact of the garments by
diverting landfill waste, saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions.
In addition, each garment can be laundered at home, which
eliminates the need for professional dry cleaning and the harmful
toxins and chemicals used in that process. It also can save up to
$1,000 annually in dry cleaning costs per employee.
“Offering bellmen and doormen sustainable clothing options is
not only good for the environment, it’s good for business,” said
Jamie Overbey, Director of Marketing at Cintas. “When employees
feel good about their uniforms, their morale improves and so does
the guest experience.”
