As we commemorate Juneteenth, a day that marks the emancipation
of enslaved African Americans, Mike Jette, Candidate for Pima
County Attorney, reaffirms his dedication to addressing the issues
facing the African American community. “I have engaged in
meaningful dialogue with African American civic and business
leaders, participated in a town hall meeting with community
leaders, and consulted privately with numerous justice reform
activists and victims. I am committed to measurable reform,” Jette
stated.
Mike pledges to:
- Support Community Violence Interrupters: Empower communities to
take greater control in policing themselves by backing initiatives
that utilize community violence interrupters.
- Establish a Community Advisory Board: Form a board comprised of
members from all sectors of the community to discuss cases,
detention, and treatment practices with him directly.
- Advance a Plan to End Cash Bail: Implement a concrete plan to
eliminate cash bail, modeled after successful federal
programs.
- Fight Against Social Equity Abuses: Combat the social equity
abuses that have cost people of color and socio-economically
disadvantaged neighborhoods over $200 million.
Mike aims to support and collaborate with community and
grassroots organizations to build safer communities, prevent crime,
and implement meaningful criminal justice reform.
By working together, Mike believes we can create lasting change
and foster an equitable and prosperous society for all.
