Venture Production said Wednesday that the announcement by Centrica "substantially undervalues the Company, its prospects and strategic position particularly with regard to its U.K. gas resources", and urges shareholders to take no action.

Centrica earlier announced the acquisition, together with concert parties, of a 22.3% stake in Venture at 725 pence per share.
