                  Venture Production plc (the "Company")


Purchase of Shares by Venture Production plc IOM Employee Benefit Trust (the
Trust)


Venture Production plc announces that it was notified on 18 March 2008 that the
Trust had acquired the following shares:


   *55,000 ordinary shares of �0.004 pence in the Company at 659.1 pence per
    share on 17 March 2008;
   *1,000 ordinary shares of �0.004 pence in the Company at 655.0 pence per
    share on 18 March 2008; and
   *19,400 ordinary shares of �0.004 pence in the Company at 654.0 pence per
    share on 18 March 2008


The Company's shares held by the Trust are used to satisfy awards in the
Company's Long Term Share Incentive Plans, Annual Deferred Share Bonus Plan and
Employee Annual Bonus Plan.


The Executive Directors and Persons Discharging Managerial Responsibility are
potential beneficiaries of the Trust and are deemed to be interested in the
shares held by the Trust.


Following this transaction the Trust retains an interest in 1,299,059 shares,
representing

0.91 % of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.
