Announcement of an extension to the posting date of the Scheme Document

Following the announcement of the proposed merger of George Wimpey Plc ("George
Wimpey") and Taylor Woodrow plc ("Taylor Woodrow") on 26 March 2007 (the
"Announcement"). George Wimpey announces that there will be, with the consent of
the Panel, a short delay in posting its Scheme Document to the George Wimpey
Shareholders. George Wimpey currently anticipates that it will post the Scheme
Document to the George Wimpey Shareholders in early May.

Terms used in this announcement shall have the meaning given to them in the
Announcement.
