Strategic Update
Further to the announcement of its interim results earlier
today, SSM, the AIM-quoted sports personality animation business,
is pleased to announce, in addition to its existing strategy of
producing and commercialising children's CGI animated television
series, an enhanced business model aimed at opening up a broad
range of new revenue streams with a view to further utilising its
rights to use Jose Mourinho's image.
HIGHLIGHTS
-- Creation of a fully interactive branded web platform with
social gaming and mobile app development, increasing viewer, user
and subscriber participation and providing scope for a range of new
revenue streams, including sponsorship, merchandising and product
placement.
-- Due to cost efficiencies in SSM's current production process,
no additional funding will be required to meet costs in relation to
the new web portal
-- The enhanced strategy is designed to take advantage of
emerging trends of media consumption with the focus on real and
virtual world applications as children access content via
interoperable devices, such as smartphones, at an increasing
rate.
SSM is developing a fully interactive web platform that is
designed to maximize brand exposure through user interaction. The
platform, which will be branded as "Mourinho and the Special Ones"
("MSO"), will comprise the MSO TV series, an interactive
collectible card trading game and social media platform, each of
which is expected to provide revenue opportunities in the form of
sponsorship, merchandising and product placement.
The interactive card trading game, which is expected to be a
cross-platform mobile application for use on Android and iOS
smartphones, will use augmented reality elements embedded on the
cards to help teach children football skills that they will have
seen on the MSO TV series. Football tricks that have been learnt
can then be recorded on digital smartphones and uploaded as user
generated content to the social media web platform.
In addition, the card game will provide a range of partnership
and revenue opportunities as decks of cards and add-on accessories
are sold to subscribers.
The MSO platform will be supported by a fully interactive
digital experience with a portal providing exclusive content, games
and products. By being available on all digital devices,
advertising, applications and in-store purchases will help the
Group to build a worldwide community which is expected to drive
sales going forward.
CEO of Sports Stars Media, Ruben Dias, commented:
"Since joining AIM earlier this year the focus has been on
developing the MSO TV series. However, given the increasing
interactive nature of digital media applications we have decided to
incorporate the TV series into a wider offering so that we can take
advantage of a range of new revenue generating opportunities. We
are very excited by the huge potential afforded to us by combining
social media, mobile and interactive augmented reality
applications."
