Cisco Significantly Reduces Time-to-Market and Localization Costs and Improves Quality for New Products, Technical Documents and Web Content

SDL (LSE:SDL), the leading provider of Global Information Management solutions, today announced that Cisco Systems G.K. has chosen SDL to improve its Global Information Management processes across its portfolio of software products, technical documents and web content.  The new solution has allowed Cisco to reduce time-to-market for new products and decrease localization costs by 30%.

The new Global Information Management process supports the delivery of Cisco products and services to the Japanese market as well as providing customers and sales partners with over 100,000 pages of related documentation in Japanese.

SDL and Cisco have a long standing global relationship that sees Cisco utilize SDL's technologies and services to underpin its worldwide Global Information Management strategy. Cisco Systems G.K are now taking advantage of this central infrastructure by utilizing Cisco's SDL Translation Management System™ to apply translation memory and terminology management for increased global brand consistency.  Stringent ISO quality assurance measures have also been introduced to improve overall translation quality and SDL is conducting full functional and user testing for local language products before launch.    

SDL Japan worked with Cisco's translation optimization team, also located in Japan, to perform a comprehensive review of its Global Information Management processes.  In partnership with SDL, this group identified areas for improvement and undertook a transformation of the localization workflow. Centralizing translation management and streamlining the translation workflow has reduced turn-around times and translation costs of web content and new software products on average by 30%.
