             CRESTACARE PLC ("the Company")
                            
The  Company announces that it has received the following
notifications pursuant to S198 Companies Act 1985.

The  Company  was  notified on 19  July  1999  by  Robert
Fleming   Holdings  Limited  on  behalf  of  THE  FLEMING
MERCANTILE  INVESTMENT TRUST PLC that it  no  longer  has
notifiable interest in the share capital of the Company.

The  Company was notified on 19 July 1999 by  Phillips  &
Drew  Holdings  Limited that both it and  its  subsidiary
Phillips  & Drew Life Limited no longer have a notifiable
interest in the share capital of the Company.

The Company was notified on 16 July 1999 by Norwich Union
Plc (as the ultimate holding company of the Norwich Union
Group of Companies)  that following its sale of 7,077,944
shares in the Company on 15 July 1999, the Norwich  Union
Group's  material interest in the share  capital  of  the
Company is as follows:

Norwich  Union  Life & Pensions B A/c           5,097,739
shares

Norwich  Union  Pension Management Ltd SC A/c   1,980,206
shares

These holdings amount to approximately 3.72 per cent.  of
the issued share capital of the Company.

The  Company was notified on 19 July 1999 by FMR Corp and
its   direct  and  indirect  subsidiaries  and   Fidelity
International  Limited  and  its  direct   and   indirect
subsidiaries, of their disclosable interests in the share
capital of the Company which are as follows.

In total 7,282,969 Ordinary Shares  representing 3.83% of
the  issued  Share Capital of the Company (these  holding
have  been combined for notification for the purposes  of
clarity and efficiency and it is not intended to indicate
that any of the individual holdings act as a  group or in
concert.)
