Purchase of own shares

Metalrax Group PLC (The "Company") announces that on 14 April 1999 it
purchased in the market for cancellation 826,500 of its own ordinary shares at
a price of 81 pence per share.   These shares represent approximately 0.7 per
cent. of the existing share capital of the Company.
