                                                               IMMEDIATE RELEASE

                               METALRAX GROUP PLC
                             Annual General Meeting

Metalrax Group turnover increases in first four months

At today's Annual General Meeting (23 May 2005), John Crabtree, Non-Executive
Chairman told shareholders:

"In the first four months of the current year group turnover and orders from
customers have continued at increased levels compared with the same period last
year. Welcome contributions from recent strategic acquisitions have assisted in
maintaining this forward momentum.

"At the same time, operating profits have been adversely affected by a number of
factors which fall largely outside the control of group management. These
problems include the well publicised and ongoing downturn in consumer spending
in the retail sector, the direct and indirect damage caused by the closure of MG
Rover and Powertrain, and the persistent inflationary effects of commodity and
utility price increases.

"In the face of such major challenges to our local and national economy, we
maintain our determination to improve group performance and utilise our
financial strength to advance shareholder value."
