Intandem sells Australian box office hit 'Beneath Hill 60' to UK distributor,
Momentum
Intandem Films Plc, the London based international film group, is pleased to
announce that it has sold Australian box office hit, Beneath Hill 60, to leading
UK distributor, Momentum Pictures, part of Canadian media group Alliance
Atlantis.
Beneath Hill 60- released in Australia by Paramount Pictures on 15 April 2010 -
has been hugely successful during its first two weeks at the box office,
grossing AUD $1.7 million to date. The Film was also the only top ten entry to
increase box office takings over the Anzac Day (25 April) long weekend - the
Australian and New Zealand national day of remembrance. Beneath Hill 60s box
office increased by 42% while the other Top Ten movies dropped by percentages
ranging from 14% to 39%.
The Film, directed by Jeremy Hartley Sims and starring Brendan Cowell, tells the
story of what became known as one of the most successful campaigns of The Great
War.
This true story follows a small platoon of Australian miners - all untrained
soldiers - as they prepare to ignite the largest amount of explosives ever
collected in one place under German lines in an attempt to end the War.
Intandem acquired the worldwide sales rights to Beneath Hill 60 in May 2009 and
is delighted to have sold the UK distribution rights to Momentum. As well as
successfully selling the UK distribution rights, Intandem is pleased to announce
that Beneath Hill 60 will have its World Premiere Market Screenings at this
year's Cannes Film Festival on the 15th and 16th May.
Screen International said:
"This strongly acted, earnest Australian story...has definitive International
Potential!"
Commenting on the success of the Film in Australia, Paramount Pictures Australia
Managing Director Mike Selwyn said:
"We are delighted at the way that Beneath Hill 60 seems to be reaching out to
all the different audiences across Australia. The film really seems to have
something for everyone and is playing equally well in arthouses, country and
provincial locations and big multiplexes and we are very hopeful that this
beautifully made Australian film can carry on for a long time."
Commenting on the sale and the success of the Film, Intandem's Chief Executive
Officer, Gary Smith said:
"The UK Market is one of the hardest to crack for any movie and we are delighted
that a company of the calibre and experience of Momentum has seen the potential
of Beneath Hill 60. We are excited to be working with them to maximise its
revenues in the UK market.
"Beneath Hill 60 will also be screening in Cannes on 15th and 16th May and
coupled with a successful release in Australia and the UK giving its stamp of
approval, we're hoping to generate further sales from the rest of the world."

About Beneath Hill 60
Beneath Hill 60(www.beneathhill60.com.au) is a terrifying true story that starts
during 1916 when the blood and carnage of The Great War rampaged mercilessly
across Europe. While some of the bloodiest battles ever seen rage on the
surface, a deadly game of cat-and-mouse is played out thirty metres below the
trenches as a small platoon of Australian tunnellers - all untrained soldiers -
prepare to ignite the largest amount of explosive ever collected in one place
under German lines to try and end the War. It became known as one of the most
successful campaigns of the whole conflict.
