                     Awards under Long Term Incentive Plan
                                       

Chesterton International plc ("the Company") was today informed that on Friday
29 September 2000, the Chesterton International Employee Benefit Trust, in
conjunction with the Company's Remuneration Committee made awards to the
executive directors listed below under the Company's Long Term Incentive Plan.
The share price for determining the level of awards was 27p, being the 
mid-market price of the 5p Ordinary Shares of the Company at the close of
business on Thursday 28 September 2000.

These awards are subject to the achievement of strict performance targets
linked to improvements in the Company's earnings per share during the period
from 1 July 2000 until the conclusion of the financial year ending 30 June
2003.
