Charter European Trust PLC, announces that on 26 October 2007 it purchased, for
cancellation, 118,271 Ordinary 1p Shares (representing 0.45% of the issued
Ordinary Capital), at a price of 237.38p per Ordinary Share.

Settlement of the purchased 118,271 Ordinary Shares is due on 31 October 2007.

Following the purchase and cancellation of the 118,271 Ordinary Shares, the
total number of Treasury shares held by the Company will be 1,485,000. The
issued share capital of the Company, less the total number of Ordinary Shares
held in Treasury, will be 26,118,817 Ordinary 1p Shares.
