                            Director's Shareholding   

The Company has today received a notice of exercise of options from Mr Sten
Mortstedt, a director of the Company, in relation to the exercise by him of
options over 69,000 ordinary shares of 25 pence each in the capital of the
Company. The option was granted on 23 July 1997 at a price of 166.66 pence per
share.

In addition, the Company has also received a notice of exercise of options from
Mr Bengt Mortstedt, a director of the Company, in relation to the exercise by
him of options over 36,000 ordinary shares of 25 pence each in the capital of
the Company. The option was granted on 23 July 1997 at a price of 166.66 pence
per share.

Mr Sten Mortstedt is now interested in 38,707,433 ordinary shares of 25 pence
each in the capital of the Company and Mr Bengt Mortstedt is interested in
6,131,787 ordinary shares of 25 pence each in the capital of the Company.
