Trading Update
Cedar announced on 15 March 2000 that it had raised #40.2
million by way of a conditional placing of new shares for
further strategic acquisitions and to provide funding for
the further development of existing projects including the
Cedar e-content business solution.
The Cedar Board have today announced that the initiatives
for which the proceeds of the placing are to be applied will
have a positive benefit in current financial year to 31
March 2000, which will be reported in June 2000 and that the
Company remains confident that the out turn for the year
will be in line with current market expectations.
Key Business Drivers:
* ASP - The eCedar Application Service Provider offering
(provision of software applications securely over the
Internet) announced at the end of 1999 is now being piloted
by a global oil company. The formal launch of the service
is set for 1 May 2000.
* BusinessFlow - Siemens Power Corporation is
implementing the Cedar BusinessFlow solution that allows
nuclear technicians to archive, retrieve and manage
enterprise information securely through their Intranet and
via SAP R/3. Primarily operating in Europe and North
America, the solution now gives Siemens the capability to
manage information at other locations around the world.
This opens up a Cedar Group opportunity to implement a
solution throughout Power and similar scale industry
sectors.
* TSP - Plans are well advanced to provide additional
applications and additional services such as IT and
Management Consultancy to make eCedar a Total Solutions
Provider (TSP). A Total Solutions Provider is able to
deliver everything an Applications Service Provider (ASP)
can, plus business services and ancillary software
applications. TSP's tend to be favoured by the larger
enterprises, rather than just focused at the SME market.
This is now recognised as the fastest growing sector in the
Business to Business Internet Infrastructure market.
* USA - The US market is responding very positively to
Cedar's product line and strategy as demonstrated by US
Internet companies embracing Cedar's infrastructure
proposition. Commercial companies such as Levi Strauss and
Dennis Publishing have signed up for the application
solutions, and recent wins in US Community and Service
organisations have demonstrated the US relevance of Cedar's
credentials in UK Healthcare and Local Government.
* Telecoms - The demand for CRM Applications in the
telecommunications sector is increasing as new contracts
with Orange, Alpha Telecom, First Telecom & Lucent are
signed.
Tom Rump, CEO Cedar Group US, commented: "Ventures such as
the Siemens contract are enabling us to gain global
attention as a credible and effective provider of Enterprise
Business Solutions. Penetration of accounts such as this,
and a number in the public services domain demonstrate that
the Cedar business model will be as successful in the United
States as it is in the UK"
Mike Harrison, CEO of Cedar Group Plc, Commented: "The
strengthening of Cedar offerings to our existing substantial
customer base in the UK and the USA is showing profitable
growth. Cedar's proposition for implementing an effective
business to business infrastructure differentiates us from
many new eCommerce providers as we focus on solving
enterprise business problems."
