                        CAPITAL RADIO PLC TRADING UPDATE


Capital Radio plc, the UK's leading commercial radio group, announces a trading
update for the quarter ended 31st December 2002, to coincide with its Annual
General Meeting being held today.


Trading in the October to December quarter reflected the continuing tough
advertising market.  The Group's radio revenue was down 6% against the same
quarter last year, which was in line with our expectations. October revenues
fell 14%, however November and December were broadly flat year on year.


We anticipate that our January revenues will be modestly up year on year. The
outlook for February and March is more uncertain, and we continue to manage the
cost base of our business on the assumption that the advertising market remains
under pressure for the rest of our financial year.


We will provide a further trading update on 26th March 2003.
