              CAPITAL RADIO PLC - APPOINTMENT OF DEPUTY CHAIRMAN


Capital Radio plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Cawdron as
Deputy Chairman, with effect from 1 October 2001.

Peter Cawdron joined the Board of Capital Radio as a Non-Executive Director in
December 2000. Peter is Chairman of the Audit Committee and also a member of
the Remuneration Committee.

Peter has a number of other directorships, including Compass Group plc,
Johnston Press plc, The Capita Group plc and ARM Holding plc.
