Transaction in own shares

The Company announces that on 5 September 2006 it purchased 50,000 of its own
Ordinary shares of 10p each at a price of 113.5 pence per share. The shares
were re-purchased for holding in treasury.

Following repurchase the Company has 824,174 Ordinary shares held in treasury.
The number of shares in issue remains 89,724,381. The number of shares in
issue, less those held in treasury, is 88,900,207.
