Transaction in own shares

The Company announces that on 31 August 2006 it purchased 67,500 of its own Ordinary
shares of 10p each at a price of 112 pence per share. The shares were
re-purchased for holding in treasury.

Following repurchase the Company has 774,174 Ordinary shares held in treasury.
The number of shares in issue remains 89,724,381. The number of shares in
issue, less those held in treasury, is 88,950,207.
