International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR)
(www.unisdr.org) will set out for the Philippines beginning
February 28th focused on stimulating and supporting the development
of high growth business opportunities in the region. The Greenfield
Program concentrates on early stage development of high-growth
potential businesses in the world's emerging markets, to include
Southeast Asia in addition to its focus in China, South and Central
America and East Africa. The UNISDR joins the trade mission to
continue an initiative intended to incent the local entrepreneurial
business community to pursue new enterprise opportunities that
contribute to disaster reduction.
Last October, the UNISDR joined the Greenfield Program and the
Small Equity Initiative in Nairobi on a Trade Mission intended to
stimulate small business investment in high growth potential
enterprises. The pilot program was intended to urge private sector
innovation and investment aimed at reducing disaster risk. To learn

Recently, the United Nations General Assembly convened its first
thematic debate on disaster risk reduction to encourage governments
