Dow Jones News
Former high-ranking German politician Roland Koch will head the
supervisory board of UBS AG's (UBS) business in Germany from
January, the Swiss bank said Tuesday.
Koch was a key financial expert in German Chancellor Angela
Merkel's center-right Christian Democratic Union party until he
resigned unexpectedly in late May and left office in August. German
construction company Bilfinger Berger SE (GBF.XE) recently
disclosed Koch will take up the chief executive role next year.
Zurich-based UBS said Koch was chosen for his political
expertise, including his representation of Frankfurt as a banking
and financial center, as well as his experience as a business
lawyer.
Koch replaces Arthur Decurtins at the top of UBS's German board.
Decurtins had filled in as chairman temporarily, said UBS.
