MONTRÉAL, Nov. 26, 2018 /CNW
Telbec/ - Quebecor's Music Division is pleased to announce the
acquisition of Mario Pelchat's
MP3 Disques label, an album and concert producer and music
publisher. MP3 Disques joins the Music Division's other two labels,
Musicor and Ste-4 Musique, strengthening Quebecor's leading
position on Québec's music scene.
"Over the years, Mario Pelchat
has distinguished himself as an outstanding artist, entrepreneur
and producer," says Anne Vivien,
Executive Vice-President, Music Development of Quebecor. "He has
established close relationships with his artists, who trust his
sure instincts and unique talents as an artistic director. It is
with great pride and enthusiasm that my team and I embark on this
collaboration with him."
"I have long wanted to work with a solid team in order to be
able to mount large-scale projects and take them to the next
level," says Mario Pelchat, who
remains General Manager of MP3 Disques. "I'm delighted to have
found strong allies who share my love of music in Anne Vivien and her team. With Quebecor and its
Music Division taking over the administrative side of MP3 Disques'
album and concert production operations, I will be able to focus
more on creation, the part of the job that I'm most passionate
about."
"The addition of MP3 Disques to Quebecor's Music Division is
great news!" commented Martin
Tremblay, Chief Operating Officer of Quebecor Sports and
Entertainment Group. "It will further strengthen our music creation
and concert production business. The move will therefore benefit
artists and help promote Québec music."
MP3 Disques, a Québec cultural flagship that has posted strong
earnings since it was founded in 2004, will keep its own identity,
know-how and expertise, with founder Mario
Pelchat staying on as General Manager. MP3 Disques' hit
releases include VII, Noël avec Jireh Gospel Choir, Le monde où
je vais, Et maintenant… Bécaud and Un homme qui vous
ressemble by Mario Pelchat;
