MONTRÉAL, Feb. 12, 2018 /CNW
Telbec/ - Quebecor has reviewed the judgement handed down today by
Justice Marie-Anne Paquette of
Québec Superior Court in the case opposing it to Just for Laughs
and would like to make the following comment:
"While we are disappointed the Court did not accept all of our
claims, we are pleased that it dismissed the main allegations Just
for Laughs has circulated in the media in connection with this
case," said Marc Tremblay, Senior
Vice-President, Chief Legal Officer and Public Affairs of Quebecor.
"We are satisfied that the Court upheld our right of first offer
and right of first refusal, which prevents Just for Laughs from
selling to a third party on terms more favourable than its offer to
us in respect of our right of first offer. We also note that
Justice Paquette found that Quebecor
did not act in bad faith or orchestrate an attempt to impede the
sale process for the sole purpose of buying at a lower price, as
Just for Laughs had alleged."
Quebecor intends to continue studying the ruling and will not
make any further comment at this time.
