Quebecor Media Inc. and the City of Quebec today saw the Quebec City multipurpose arena take a decisive step forward with the completion of the building's technical and functional program.

"There are no more obstacles, no more way out and no more uncertainty. What was once only a project today really starts to take form," said Pierre Karl Peladeau, president and CEO of Quebecor, Quebecor Media and Sun Media Corporation during a press conference held in Quebec City with Treasury Board president Michelle Courchesne and Quebec City Mayor Regis Labeaume.

Construction work will get underway this September, leading to the inauguration of a modern and functional 18,000-seat arena on the grounds of the Quebec City hippodrome in September 2015.

The choices and innovative solutions brought forward by the architects, engineers and experts working on the project will insure that the Quebecor Media-managed arena will have all the necessary features to become a choice venue for shows, sports and cultural events, while also being a major source of pride for citizens of Quebec City and Quebec as a whole.

"Throughout construction and for the next twenty-five years, Quebecor Media intends to work with Quebec City residents and businesses, along with municipal and provincial governments to make sure this arena is an economic, cultural and sport success that will help Quebec City and the talents of its citizens shine for many years to come," added Mr. Peladeau.

In addition to the already announced sums that Quebecor Media will be paying for rent, profit-sharing and naming rights, the company will also inject an additional 30 to 40 million dollars to fit-out parts of the building for exclusive use, including all the furniture and technical equipment related to this space. This will notably include a 350 square meters television production studio and a production console that will be major differentiation factors for the Quebec multipurpose arena.
