Mr. Pierre Karl Peladeau, president and chief executive officer of
Quebecor Inc. and Quebecor Media Inc. welcomes the adoption by the
National Assembly of bill 204 regarding the new Quebec City arena.
Quebec Media believes this law will provide legal protection to the
final contractual agreements recently signed with the City of
Quebec for the management of the arena.
"We now have all the necessary tools to reach the objective we
set out to bring the Nordiques back to Quebec City. The population
of Quebec City and all hockey fans can count on our unwavering
determination in our ongoing representations to the National Hockey
League," said Pierre Karl Peladeau.
Although Quebecor Media has no guarantee from the NHL and
intends to remain discreet about its efforts, it considers itself
to be well positioned to bring this project to fruition. "The
passion of Quebec City residents and those of Quebec as a whole for
our national sport is a powerful argument. I invite everyone to
unite and mobilise their strength to push this collective project
forward. The ball is now in our court and it's our turn to play!"
adds Pierre Karl Peladeau.
Finally, Quebecor Media wishes to remind everyone that, although
it will act as the new arena's manager, the arena will remain a
public good belonging to all the citizens of Quebec City. Quebecor
Media will do all that it can to ensure that the people of Quebec
City make the arena their own and that the arena becomes a source
of pride for all residents.
