CGI ProperPay technology predicts, tracks and
identifies improper payments
and recovers vital funds for veterans' healthcare
FAIRFAX, VA, Jan. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ - CGI (NYSE: GIB)
(TSX: GIB.A) today announced its selection by the U.S. Department
of Veterans Affairs (VA) for healthcare claims auditing and
recovery services that will be provided through CGI ProperPay™ – an
innovative set of financial waste, fraud and abuse identification
and tracking capabilities that have saved billions of dollars for
CGI government and commercial clients over the past 25 years.
Under the direction of the Veterans Health Administration's
Office of Community Care (VHA CC), CGI will work to identify
improper payments for recoupment, actively review healthcare data
for accuracy and pursue the correction of overpayments determined
to be in error. Overpayment recoveries benefit VA by returning
funds to meet the needs of veterans.
"We are honored to perform this vital service on behalf of our
nation's veterans," said Michael
Garbus, Vice-President, CGI. "CGI's healthcare compliance
team offers proven experience for large federal and commercial
clients with results-oriented technology that provides efficient
and effective audit and recovery services. For the VA, the result
will be recovered funds available for the ongoing care of those who
have served and sacrificed for our country."
Focused on the VA Community Care program (non-VA care
providers), audit and recovery efforts under the contract will be
powered by CGI ProperPay – a solution that imports claims data,
performs advanced analytics to identify improperly paid claims,
tracks progress and performs required communication and reporting.
CGI ProperPay is configurable to an organization's specific
business rules and reimbursement methodologies. Its predictive
analytics, workflow management, rules management and global best
practices operate in a secure cloud environment, offering superior
elasticity and power.
"We have the experience and expertise to meet emerging
requirements in support of VHA transformation initiatives," added
Garbus. "While this contract focuses on a subset of the overall VHA
processes and systems, an understanding of the entire process is
important to best serve veterans, VHA-care and non-VA care
providers."
