Santander BanCorp to File Its Annual Form 10k for 2006 On or Before March 30, 2007

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Santander
BanCorp (the Corporation) (NYSE: SBP; LATIBEX: XSBP), announced
today that it will not be able to file its annual report on Form
10-K for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2006 by its March 16,
2007 filing deadline. The Corporation is in the process of
completing the preparation of its consolidated financial statements
for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2006 and it expects to file
its 2006 Form 10K on or before March 30, 2007. The Corporation
intends to issue its earnings release for the fourth quarter of
2006 concurrently with the filing of its 2006 Form 10-K.
