the Spirit of Six Flags!" said Jim Crowley, marketing director, Six
Flags Great America. "He had Mr. Six's unique dance moves down to a
science ... the crowd went wild when he took the stage!" Pope was
selected from a group of Mr. Six wannabes who traveled to Six Flags
Great America from as far away as Atlanta and Barstow, Calif., for
the chance to see Six Flags' irresistible, quirky dancing old man.
All of the finalists donned costumes and danced to Mr. Six's
popular theme song "We Like to Party" by the Vengaboys. The Six
Flags ad campaign debuted nationwide in mid-March and has
catapulted the theme park's new icon to celebrity status. "We were
bowled over by the response Mr. Six has received from the public
and the news media," Hank Salemi, senior vice president, marketing,
Six Flags, Inc., explained. "The buzz has far exceeded our original
hopes for the campaign. We had no idea that America would embrace
Mr. Six with this level of enthusiasm. The overwhelming response to
his first appearance at our park in Gurnee, Illinois is a great
example of this phenomenon." Six Flags, Inc. is the world's largest
