CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Piedmont
Natural Gas (NYSE: PNY) Chairman, President, and CEO Thomas E. Skains has been selected to serve as
the Charlotte Chamber of
Commerce's 2nd vice chairman which means he will lead
the organization as chairman in 2015.
Commenting on his selection, Mr. Skains said, "I appreciate this
opportunity to serve in a leadership role with the Chamber and I
look forward to working with such a fine organization and other
community leaders for the economic development and quality of life
of our Charlotte community."

Morgan made the selection announcement before some 150
members attending the organization's Annual Planning Retreat being
held in Charleston. "The chamber is honored and fortunate to have
Tom accept this very important leadership role following in the
footsteps of Brett Carter in 2013
and Michael Tarwater in 2014," said
Morgan.
Mr. Skains has held numerous leadership positions both within
the natural gas industry and in the Charlotte community. In 2009, Skains
served as Chairman of the American Gas Association and, in 2006, as
Chairman of the Southern Gas Association. He currently serves
on the Board of Directors for each organization. In addition, Mr.
Skains presently holds positions on the Boards of Directors of
BB&T Corporation, the Gas Technology Institute (GTI) and
Charlotte Collegiate Football; is the General Chairman of the Belk
Bowl; and, serves on the Boards of Trustees of Johnson & Wales University and the American Gas
Foundation.
